Depends on your motive of Travelling to Leh. If you are going to just explore Manali-Leh Highway then it would hardly take 2 days to reach Leh city(or else 1 day would be fine).

Your own bike - No tension, less maintenance and flexible ride.
Rent a bike - Advance booking, careful and may/may not require maintenance.
If you want to rent a bike from Manali then it should cost you around 1200–1300 rs for Royal Enfield Bullet 350 cc and 1400–1500 for Royal Enfield Bullet 500 cc.
Usually they provide you with required tool-kit and other accessories but if not, then please make sure you carry all the necessities and be prepared for any sort of trouble.
Being one of the toughest terrains in the world (473 kms from Manali to Leh), it is not advised to ride at night so make sure you find a roof before 6 or max 7 in the evening.
It is advised to start the bike by 5 or 5:30 in the morning as you need to ride through the terrains and that would take hell lot of time.
So try to cover as much distance as possible between 5 in the morning till 6–7 in the evening.
So if you leave Manali @6 then you will easily reach Jispa(138 kms from Manali) or Sarchu(223 kms from Manali) by evening.
Sarchu is the midpoint between Manali and Leh. So if you leave early next morning from Jispa or Sarchu then easily you will reach Leh city by night as the roads are amazingly well after you cross Pang (174 kms to leh).
Again i repeat, be prepared for any sort of trouble or vehicle breakdown as the roads are dangerous and there are high chances (99.9% sure) that you will have flat tires. So have a tool-kit and extra set of spark plugs and any other parts that you feel is necessary. Make sure you have proper knowledge about your bike and you should be able to fix at least the basic issues.

Manali-Sissu (86 kms) : Mixture of Good & Bad roads (Adventure- Moderate)
From Sissu -Sarchu (138 kms) - Mostly good roads, few patches near Sarchu (Adventure- Moderate)
Tandi - Last petrol pump on Manlali-Leh highway. There is no petrol pump for another 365 kms (You will find next petrol station in Karu, 50 kms to leh).
Sarchu - Pang (76 kms)- No sign of good roads, don’t even dream of it. (Adventure - Extreme)
Pang- leh (174 kms) : The best and most amazing part of the journey (No patches at all, clear roads) / (Adventure - None, just stunning beauty).
